Foto Friday or You Knew I Had a New Camera…

It was only a matter of time.  I’ve been out playing with my new toy even though I only have it on an automatic setting while I try and learn all the falderall of this fancy piece of equipment.  For now, auto works fine.  So just for grins, and mainly because I don’t have anything particular to talk about…here are some of my latest shots.  I apologize — this is almost as bad as visiting someone and they take out the home movies of their vacation…gah….feel free to click on the photos to make them larger…if you can stomach it…

  1. I love looking at other peoples pictures Thank you for sharing and feel free to do so any time 🙂
You are too kind – Devoted Spouse and I went out today even though it was a dreary day and we had so much fun playing with the new toy! We’ll be taking more adventures soon so I’ll be sharing more treasures I find. Hugs!

  2. Oh I don’t know, that house looks like it still has glass in the windows. Which means I can’t afford that.
Blame my photographic lack of experience — top window empty — I rather liked the “natural” landscaping myself. I just couldn’t get close enough to do it justice – busy street and I was across the road in a culvert I darn couldn’t climb back up – ridiculous. I liked what was left of the little barn that was next to the old house.

  3. The moon shot (LOL!) old house with the bare trees are wonderful. I look forward to seeing your photography. Linda’s are never be boring. It’s not in the definition:)
I really wanted to include another “moon” for comparison but stopped myself in time. ROFL You are correct – Linda’s are never boring. Eccentric, odd, but always trend setters and way ahead of their time. 😉

  4. So how cheap is cheap? It has potential, right? I mean, the air conditioning alone has to be worth something.
I neglected to say it also has ambiance and would make a particularly stunning setting for a Halloween party.

  5. Love them all. Thank you for sharing.

    God bless.
You are entirely too kind. I like encouraging comments. Perhaps you could find some time to also fawn over me occasionally? Okay, nevermind.

  6. 😀 Oh my gosh. Best.Post.Ever. I may for real die of laughter here between your photo commentary and Emmalou’s “Look at me, people, I got my dad. Yup, I got my dad” happy thing. LOL!!!!

Seriously, the photos are great. Looking forward to more of ’em!
I really like you and wish you lived next door to me. Please consider moving to OH. Now.

  7. Oh….Foto Friday. Nice. Love the house for sale. A real gem. Handy man’s dream. Keep them coming!
This was the photo I told u about in email where I jumped down into the ravine and danged near couldn’t haul myself back up to the road. And I didn’t do the pic justice — it is just the creepiest house I’ve seen in a long time and it’s out in the middle of nowhere.

  8. Pictures are always fun.

I see a lot of potential in that house…oh, hell no! I’m not fixing up another old house. This one has been a money pit for 36 years…LOL

I gather from Emmalou that you’re going to be buying a new tree…
You would not want to tackle this house, believe me — it is falling down — I showed the good part! And, yes we just arrived home with a new tree only this year I will be putting up the doggie gates so she can’t get near it.

  9. I hate inflatable seasonal decor, too! So, like, are we separated-at-birth sisters from different parents?
I took another pic of the entire yard but it was hard to see — they had dozens of inflatable nonsense — about 5 other items had deflated — it is the worst yard decor I have ever seen and I just wanted to throw a hand grenad into their front yard. Gah… Yes, I do believe we were separated at birth – sometimes after I read your stuff it just scares me how we think alike! what a hoot!

  10. I was out looking a cameras today. What kind did you get and why. I’ve found it very dificult to get a good “moon shot” you did well with your new camera.
After much reading and research and discussions with photography friends, I bought a Nikon D3000 with an 18-55mm lens and I also added more of zoom lens at 55-200 mm – between these two for now I should be able to get good resolution regular shots and some nice longer distance shots – at least once I figure out how all the dials and gauges work! I’m hoping to add something for macro photography (or micro as Nikon calls it — the real close-ups) at a later time. My photo buddy told me for now to stick to the “auto” setting and that was good advice. I’m still reading books, literature, and the Nikon online forums picking up advice and info as I go. I love it. The only reason I didn’t pick the D5000 was I wasn’t interested in video and that’s the primary difference between the 3000 and the 5000 — that and the price! The moon shot was a fluke truly – I was just playing around and I thought it came out well. Think how good a shot I could have taken had I really known what I was doing? LOL

  11. hi cronie,
I tried to leave a comment here a couple nights ago but my computer crashed in mid-sentence.
I see you bought a nikon? is it a digital camera?

Not only are you a prolific writer, but I see you have a keen eye for photography as well!
Hi Sistah! Welcome to my world of constantly crashing pieces of crap computers. Yes it is a Nikon D3000 and it is a DSLR (or digital single lens reflex) – a nice piece of equipment definitely not compact! I have two compact digital cameras, an Olympus and a GE and both of them are good but they can’t get close in nor do they have much of a zoom feature, hence the big Nikon.

  12. Nice photos! I’ve got a Nikon D60 and love it. I still haven’t mastered the individual settings. I stay on automatic most of the time. The pictures are my favorite kind – just what’s in my view. I actually love the ones of the mossy trees. Thanks for sharing and enjoy that new camera.
Thanks sweetie – it’s so much fun to use – I love it!

  13. Puke is right. That is exactly why I refuse to decorate my front lawn. A wreathe on my door is plenty for the neighbors.

BTW I haven’t had much time or luck getting my new camera off auto either. Your photos are nice, happy shooting.
Glad I’m not the only one. LOL
